Evil RSS

Quote:
"The EvilRSS feed turns Google search results into an RSS feed. Just enter your search query below and click submit. You can then subscribe using your RSS reader and be alerted anytime the search results change.

EvilAPI is a drop-in replacement for Google’s SOAP Search API which Google discontinued on December 5th, 2006. Sitening is offering EvilAPI as a free service. All source code is release under the MIT License.

EvilAPI is the spawn of bad corporate execution and policy. Google created the Google SOAP Search API that enabled developers to integrate their search technology and data into applications. In their usual manner, they slapped on “Beta” to the name to signify that it was still a work in progress, but that they were actively working on it. In truth, the team had actually abandoned the SOAP API to develop a less flexible and more constraining version in AJAX. Then they suddenly announced a year later that they were no longer supporting the SOAP Search API and that new API keys would no longer be available.

Their decision to cancel the SOAP Search API was in total disregard to their active development community. There is a demand to use their API for both commercial and non-commercial use, and many companies have been interested in paying a fee for using the API commercially. There is a need and will always be a need for this type of access to Google’s search service. EvilAPI was created to fulfill that need until Google decides to make a viable commercial Search API. We see EvilAPI as just one solution for this need and we fully expect that more and more solutions and work-arounds will be created until Google starts listening to their developers and customers and provides them what they need."

SEO MAC Spoof Ads

These days, it seems there is more and more talk about SEO and being search engine friendly - and reactions to how frustrating and costly it is.

Here is a bunch of v-e-r-y entertaining MAC spoof ads poking fun at SEO, which I feel summarize well the feeling of many webmasters including myself: Its just better to offer something users want to come back too. From the Crazy Canucks of mrpwebmedia.

Enjoy and pass along.

Cool RSS to GIF

This is a nifty little RSS tool I found while surfing on blinklist. Now you can convert your RSS to an image, in seven steps. The RSS to Image converter allows customization of colors and fonts, but the possibilities are not endless - downside. The positive side is that it updates in realtime, always displaying your freshest content. In that, it is an alternative to the traditional aggregators. But again there is a downside: there is a maximum of 10 news that can be displayed. Regardless, this a nice little tool. Currently using it on the main page of feedsforme

*****

Stangely enough

Strangely enough, feedsforme.com/science is getting a LOT of traffic these days. Might be in conjunction with people going back to school. Sorry, the proxy isn't there anymore. Won't be coming back. I bought a new proxy to satisfy the demand and two more are in the works for the school folks.

The science page will remain up mainly for the proxy swicki that I added there a few days ago. You are welcome to help build it and to use it for your sites/blogs. The more people who contribute, the better it will become.

You can add the swicki to your site by following this swicki link.

Addition to feedsforme.com

Since pulling down the web-based proxy, we have been receiving as many visits, so we have decided to add a proxy swicki to give you a place to go... There's nothing more frustrating than a page with no content...
